IASST Guwahati Project Walk INs (9 Posts) 2019 November


A walk-in-interview will be held on 20/11/2019 at the Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST), Guwahati for selection of suitable candidate for the following post under the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India funded research projects: 

1 Exploration and conservation of antimicrobial metabolites producing Actinobacteria prevalent in protected forest ecosystems of NE India to develop an antimicrobial metabolites producing actinobacterial database (AMPAD) for utilization against human and microbial pathogens, agro-protection and production system

Junior Research Fellow (One)

Post-graduation in Botany (specialization in Microbiology)/ Applied Microbiology Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology /Life Sciences with at least 55% aggregate marks.

Experience in isolation, purification and characterization of microbes, molecular biological techniques, microbial bioactive metabolites. Experience with data analysis through bioinformatics tools will be a plus point.

As per the guidelines of DBT, Govt. of India. 

2 Understanding the mechanisms of resistance to sucking pest, Helopeltis theivora and development of microbe-based bioformulation against major tea pests

Junior Research Fellow (One)

Post-graduation in Botany (specialization in Microbiology)/ Applied Microbiology Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology /Life Sciences with at least 55% aggregate marks.

Experience in isolation, purification and characterization of microbes, molecular biological techniques, microbial bioactive metabolites. Experience with data analysis through bioinformatics tools will be a plus point. As per the guidelines of DBT, Govt. of India. 

3 Establishment of a Culture Collection Centre in North East region of India

Project Technical Assistant (One) 

Post-graduation in Botany (specialization in Microbiology)/ Applied Microbiology Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology /Life Sciences with at least 55% aggregate marks.

Experience in isolation, purification and characterization of microbes.

As per the guidelines of DBT, Govt. of India. 

4 Evaluation of antioxidant and anti-hyperlipidemic property of few selected medicinal plants used by the tribal population of Goalpara district, Assam

Junior Research Fellow (One)

Candidates with M.Sc/M.Tech/M.Pharm degree (with minimum of 55% marks) or equivalent in Natural products/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Zoology (Cell & Molecular Biology) are eligible to apply.

Candidates with research experience on Drug development/biochemical assay/animal experimentation/cell culture techniques/ molecular biology tools will get preference.

5 Bioinformatics infrastructure facility (BIF) for Biology teaching through Bioinformatics (NER-Bioinformatics Infrastructure facility)

Research Associate (One) 

1st class M.Sc. degree in Bioinformatics or Biotechnology/Molecular Biology or related subjects with working experience in the field of Bioinformatics.

PhD degree in any of the subjects mentioned in the essential qualification section and knowledge in NGS data analysis, microbial curated database preparation will be preferred.

6 Bioinformatics infrastructure facility (BIF) for Biology teaching through Bioinformatics (NER-Bioinformatics Infrastructure facility)

Traineeship (Two) 

Students who have completed Master’s Degree in Bioinformatics or any branch of Life Sciences/Chemical Sciences/ Computer Science to carry out a project work in Bioinformatics. Prior knowledge of programming languages such as C, JAVA, MySQL is preferable.

Rs. 10,000/- p.m. (fixed) 

7 Bioinformatics infrastructure facility (BIF) for Biology teaching through Bioinformatics (NER-Bioinformatics Infrastructure facility)

Studentship (Two)

Students pursuing postgraduate degree in Bioinformatics/Biotechnology of any branch of Life Sciences. Prior knowledge of Bioinformatics is preferable.
