Recruitment of Research Personal (ADVT. NO.: WII/RC-CELL/RSCHRS-Selection-2020/A.1.20) 

The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is a premier autonomous Institute under the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India, in the field of wildlife research, teaching and training. The Institute invites application from the Indian nationals for the position of Project Scientist (02), Junior Research Fellow (04), Senior Research Fellow (01), Junior Project Fellow (08), Senior Project Associate (01) Project Associate (05), Project Fellow (4), Junior Technical Assistant (05), Research Assistant (05), Laboratory Assistant (01) through a Qualifying test followed by Interview(s). Details of the positions along with essential and desirable qualifications, brief description of work, age criteria and monthly fellowships are given in Annexure-1. 

Requirement of research personnel for Recruitment-2020 (Part 1) 

Name of Project Estimation of economic losses in real term per hectare basis due to forest fire in Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh 

Project Associate 

Rs. 36000 + HRA 2 years 

EQ: Masters in Forestry/Botany/Zoology/Ecology/Wildlife Science/Geo-informatics from a recognized University with 60% marks and Ph. D. degree or minimum 3 years’ experience in relevant field. 

DQ: Preference will be given to the candidate having working experience in Ecological economics/Environmental accounting/RS & GIS related studies. The candidate should have experience in habitat quantification using different approaches, wildlife surveys, occupancy analysis, population estimation. 

Required to stay at the proposed study areas and designing study plans and to coordinate with project biologists and guiding them in collecting data on habitat quantification, wildlife surveys, occupancy analysis, population estimation work etc. and report writing. 

Junior Technical Assistant 02 no. 

Rs 16000 + HRA 2 years 

EQ: Masters in Forestry/Botany/Zoology /Ecology/Environmental Economics/Wildlife Science/ Geoinformatics from a recognized University with 60% Marks. 

DQ: Preference will be given to the candidate having working experience in Ecological economics/Environmental accounting/RS & GIS related studies. 

The candidate should have experience in habitat quantification using different approaches, wildlife surveys, occupancy analysis, population estimation. Additional knowledge of GIS and Statistics will be an advantage. Required to stay at the proposed study areas and collecting data on habitat quantification, wildlife surveys, occupancy analysis, population estimation work etc. and report writing. Annexure-1. 

Monitoring Freshwater Fish population in selected Indian Landscapes with reference to the changing climatic variables 

Project Scientist 

Rs. 56000 + HRA 3 years 

EQ: PhD Degree in Zoology/ Fishery Science/ Wildlife Science/ Environmental Science/Life Sciences from a recognized University. 

DQ: Experience in Aquatic Ecology/ River Ecology/ Fish habitat Assessment/ Fish Biology. 

Experience in analyzing species distribution models and other quantitative science The Project Scientist should provide field training to Research Biologist for effective field data collection and involves all activates related to LTEO programme, including data analysis, report writing and communicating with Project Coordinating Cell. 

Junior Project Fellow 

Rs. 25000 + HRA

EQ: MSc Degree in Zoology/ Fishery Science/ Wildlife Science/ Environmental Science /Life Sciences with minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University. 

DQ: Research Experience in Aquatic Ecology/ River Ecology/ Fish Biology. Knowledge of field data collection methods, stream habitat assessment, data base management, GIS and basic statistical analysis. 

The Project Fellow should involve in regular field data collection, analysis and report writing, also assist with Project Scientist and PI for implementing the LTEO project mandate. 

Junior Technical Assistant 

Rs 16000 + HRA 

EQ: Bachelor Degree in any discipline related to Biological Science/ Life Science/ Ecological science, BSc Agriculture degree from a recognized University. 

DQ: Knowledge on Computer operating system, Data base management, GIS and basic statistical analysis. 

The candidate should assist with PI for managing data set, record keeping and assist in drafting documents and reports 

Basic Study Design of Biodiversity Assessment for Himachal Pradesh 

Junior Project Fellow (Vegetation & GIS component)

Rs. 25000 + HRA

EQ: M.Sc. Degree in Botany/Forestry/Wildlife Science/ Environmental Science/Environmental Management/ GeoInformatics (Forest Mapping) with minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University 

DQ: 
1. Research experience on Floristics/Ecological surveys/RS & GIS/Vegetation Mapping and modelling related studies in western Himalaya, database management and basic statistical analysis. 
2. Only candidates with strong physical and mental abilities and a keen desire to carryout arduous field work from foot hills to the remote and rugged high altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh under extreme cold or rainy conditions with minimal logistic/connectivity support. 

The Project Fellow will be involved with a team in regular field data collection, analysis and report writing and also assist, PIs, Project Associate and other project colleagues to develop vegetation and species distribution maps. 

Junior Project Fellow (Entomofaunal diversity) 

EQ: M.Sc. Degree in Zoology/Entomology/ Wildlife Science/ Environmental Science with minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University 

DQ: Research experience on entomological aspects of Himalayan region with field and analytical skills. Knowledge of biodiversity assessment methods, scientific communication skills and bio-statistical software. 

The Project Fellow will be involved with a team in regular field data collection, identification of insects, database generation for geo-spatial modelling and report writing. Assist Project Associate and PIs for implementing project mandate.

Junior Project Fellow (Aquatic Diversity) 

EQ: MSc Degree in Zoology/ Fishery Science/ Wildlife Science/ Environmental Science /Life Sciences with minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University. 

DQ: Research Experience in Aquatic Ecology/ River Ecology/ Fish Biology. Knowledge of field data collection methods, stream habitat assessment, data base management, GIS and basic statistical analysis. 

The Project Fellow will work with a team in regular field data collection, database generation for geo-spatial modelling analysis and report writing, also assist with Project Associate and PIs for implementing project mandate. 

Junior Project Fellow (Herpetological diversity) 

Rs. 25000 + HRA 

EQ: MSc Degree in Zoology/ Wildlife Science/ Ecology and Environmental Science /Life Sciences with minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University. 

DQ: Research Experience in Herpetology. Field experiences in wildlife survey techniques. Basic knowledge in taxonomy, molecular techniques, GIS and statistical analysis. 

The Junior Project Biologist will be responsible for field survey, database generation distribution modelling, data analysis and scientific writing. He/she also needs to work as a team and assist Project Associate and PIs for implementing project mandate. 

Junior Project Fellow (Mammalian diversity) 

Rs. 25000 + HRA 

EQ: M.Sc. Degree in Zoology/Wildlife Science/Forestry (Wildlife) /Environmental Management with minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University 

DQ: 
1. Research experience on mammalian ecological surveys, RS & GIS, related studies in western Himalaya. Quantitative skills in biodiversity assessment and population ecology.

EQ: PhD Forestry/Wildlife Sciences/Zoology/Ecology from a recognized university Or Should have Three years’ experience in relevant field of designing, surveying, analyzing and reporting of biodiversity assessments after Master Degree with minimum 60% marks in the field of Wildlife Science/ Zoology/ Forestry/ Ecology/Environment Science from a recognized University. 

DQ: Candidate should have proven written and communication skills in science. The candidate should have experience in wildlife survey, occupancy analysis, population estimation, habitat quantification using different approaches. 

Candidates with knowledge of bio-statistical softwares, R and current ecological tools for biodiversity assessment will be preferred. Lead a team of researchers in regular field data collection, analysis and report writing and also assist, PIs, and other project colleagues. The candidate will be responsible for various works under the project at Himachal Pradesh from its inception to the end.

Junior Research Fellow

Rs. 31000 + HRA 

EQ: Masters’ Degree in Botany/ /Life Science /Environmental Sciences/Geo-informatics or equivalent from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks. 

DQ: Preferably having one year of experience required on plant ecology, identification, survey and techniques, GIS-RS softwares and most importantly keen desire to carryout arduous field work in remote and rugged terrain.

Project Associate-II (Genetics)

EQ: 1. M.Sc in Life Sciences/ Wildlife Sciences/ Forestry/ Biotechnology/Animal Genetics/ Environmental Science/ Environmental Management from a recognized university. 2. Four years of experience in DNA related techniques in identifying species and other genetic parameters from faecal matter of tiger, leopard, elephants, collection of samples, wildlife survey, knowledge of GIS, data analysis, report writing. OR Doctoral degree in wildlife genetics related subject 

DQ: Lab experience in DNA extraction, PCR amplification, electrophoresis and genetic data analysis. Required to visit areas of Maharashtra and Karnataka for data and samples collection and undertake required analysis 

Laboratory Assistant

EQ: B.Sc. (Life Sciences)

Senior Project Associate

EQ: M.Sc in Life Sciences/ Wildlife Sciences/ Forestry/ Remote Sensing from a recognized university. Four years of experience in wildlife survey, knowledge of GIS, data analysis, report writing, telemetry and animal capture. Research and development in industrial and academic institutions 
OR Doctoral degree in wildlife related subject
