A Refresher Course on ‘Plant Taxonomy: Orthodox versus Modern Approach’ will be held through offline
mode from 20 December 2022 to 2 January 2023. The course aims at providing the updated knowledge
on the topics related to Taxonomy, Cladistics, Nomenclature and Biodiversity Conservation by the experts
in these fields. The participants in this course will have theoretical and field experience in theme subjects
designed by the Course Coordinator and esteemed Course Director Dr U. C. Lavania (INSA Fellow).
Additionally, practical knowledge of Phylogenetic Software will also be provided through hands on training
and demonstrations.
Applications are invited from the teachers with experience in teaching undergraduate and post-graduate
courses in Botany, especially having interest in Plant Taxonomy, Cladistics and Biodiversity Conservation.
Ph.D. scholars having interest in these fields can also be considered for this course. The number of seats
will be 45. Selected participants will be provided with course/study material.

A copy of the application form duly signed by the applicants should also be sent by post to the Course
Coordinator (latest by 1 December 2022).
The application must also be signed and stamped by the
applicant’s Head of the Department in case of university, and the Principal in case of college/institution
stating that leave will be sanctioned if the applicant is selected for the Course.
