NPTEL is excited to announce the NPTEL Pre-Doctoral Fellowships program for outstanding NPTEL learners with a Bachelor's or Master's degree! This program is designed to bridge the gap between online learning and research experience, preparing you for success in postgraduate studies.

We have seen numerous NPTEL learners excel as faculty interns, transitioning seamlessly into Master's or PhD programs under their faculty guides. This fellowship is built on that success, fostering a pathway for NPTEL Stars to pursue advanced research opportunities.
Program Details
- Eligibility: Open to all NPTEL Stars with a Bachelor's or Master's degree
- Duration: Up to 1 year
- Total Fellowship Amount: ₹4,00,000 per year, inclusive of the monthly stipend and contingency grant.
- Monthly Stipend: ₹25,000+HRA per month for a duration of 12 months.
- Contingency Grant: An additional ₹1,00,000 per year for research-related expenses.
- Location: In-person at the institute where you are selected for Fellowship
- Project Selection: Up to 1 year
- Each institute will advertise faculty-led research projects and academic requirements.
- You can apply to up to five projects, ranking your preferences.
- Faculty will select students based on resumes, short videos, and interviews, prioritizing your preferences.
- Important Note
- The fellowship period is for one (1) year, contingent upon satisfactory performance and conduct of the student, as determined by the Institute.
- This fellowship is designed to provide a pathway to pursue advanced research opportunities and does not guarantee admission to M.S or Ph.D programs in the concerned institute or under the faculty.

- Registration is open till March 14, 2025 for the 2025 Pre-Doc cycle.

Accommodation and Travel Allowance

Application Process
- Await the announcement of available projects and academic requirements.
- Review the project listings and submit your application, ranking your top five choices.
- Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews.
- Upon selection, you will receive an offer letter and confirm your start date within the program timeframe.
